Yesterday, we told you about AltKeyboard, a jailbreak tweak that was to bring a cool new way to type alternate characters on iPhone’s virtual keyboard.
The good news is AltKeyboard is now available on Cydia.
After installing the jailbreak tweak it displays the alternative characters on top of the alphabetic characters. To type the alternate characters, all you need to do is flick up on the key. This saves you the trouble of tapping on the 123 key to type the alternate character.
When you tap on a key, the letter appears above your thumb or finger, which is replaced with the alternative character when you flick up.
It works very well, however it will take you sometime to get used to it.
You can also choose to flick up or slide up on the key to type the alternate character via the Settings app. The settings is not too obvious as you need to tap on Flick up or Slide up to switch between the two modes. I found the default setting of flicking up on the key to type the alternate character a lot more easier to use.
The jailbreak tweak has been developed by Sentry of the Auxo fame and Alan Kip, who has brought us tweaks like BrowseInApp and Tap To Widgets.
AltKeyboard is available on Cydia for $0.99. You can purchase and install the tweak by tapping on the download link.
As always, let us know what you think in the comments.
