Apple to offer in-store iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c display replacements

Back in June, Apple started offering iPhone display replacement and other repairs at its Apple retail stores.

9to5Mac reports that Apple is planning to offer in-store display replacement for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c as well.

So how much will it cost? 9to5Mac reports that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c display replacement will cost $149 for users who have not subscribed to AppleCare+, and $79 for AppleCare+ subscribers.

The report also notes that Apple will have the capability to replace the volume buttons, vibrating motor, rear-camera, and speaker system on the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.

Apple will replace the Home button for the iPhone 5c, but not the one for the iPhone 5s, which is probably due to security measures in place that prevents Touch ID from being swapped out as it is paired with iPhone 5s’ A7 chip.

Apple will also offer free part replacements due to defects if the customer’s iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c unit is under warranty. If it is not under warranty, customers will be charged a fee for the part replacements such as $79 for a battery replacement and $29 for the replacement of the iPhone 5c Home button.

Ever since Apple started using in-cell display technology, the cost of iPhone display replacement has become even more expensive. So it may be prudent to either get AppleCare+, which costs $99 or put your iPhone in a case.
