9to5Mac reports that Apple has internally seeded two updates for Mavericks, OS X 10.9.1 and OS X 10.9.2 to its employees.
According to 9to5Mac, OS X 10.9.1 is codenamed “Board” and not surprisingly includes bug fixes for OS X Mavericks which was released as a free upgrade last month.
OS X 10.9.1 is expected to be released later this month. Apple is also expected to release updates to fix issues in iBooks, Safari, Remote Desktop and Mail app for Mavericks. The update to the Mail app is perhaps the most important one, since it fixes a number of Gmail related issues that were a deal breaker for a lot of regular users of the app. It is not clear if Apple will bundle these fixes with the OS X 10.9.1 or release updates for the apps before it releases the software update.
9to5Mac reports that Apple has also internaly seeded OS X 10.9.2, which is codenamed “Carve”. It will include some minor feature enhancements and bug fixes.
Both OS X 10.7.2 and OS X 10.8.2 were updates to Lion and Mountain Lion designed to increase feature-parity between iOS and OS X. OS X Mavericks is currently lacking support for iOS’s iMessage blocking feature and FaceTime Audio, so it seems plausible that OS X 10.9.2 could add those features.
The report also claims that Apple has internally seeded the next major software update for OS X, OS X 10.10 to even more employees. The next major update which will most likely be introduced at the WWDC in June next year is expected to enhance the look of the operating system to bring it in-line with iOS 7.
I have been holding off for the OS X 10.9.1, so lets hope it fixes all the major issues.
