Apple will be organising an hour-long, free computer science workshop to introduce students to the world of programming in all Apple Stores across the US.
The workshop, called the “Hour of Code,” will be held on December 11th from 5pm to 6pm, and is a part of the code.org initiative that is backed by major tech companies, politicians and tech personalities.
From Apple’s announcement:
Learn about the campaign to get students involved in a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anyone can learn the basics of programming. Visit code.org or attend a special Hour of Code workshop at any U.S. Apple Retail Store on December 11, 5 p.m.
Code.org is a non-profit whose goal is to make computer science education available to every K-12 school, and increase the participation of women and underrepresented students of color in the technology industry.
The code.org website says that the non-profit has helped more than 2 million people learn an hour of code.
