iPhone 5s remains top selling smartphone in the US on all major carriers

Apple remained the top smartphone vendor on all major US carrier networks owing to strong sales of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c.

The iPhone 5s has remained the top selling smartphone on each network ever since the device was released in September, while the iPhone 5c has been on the second or third spot.

From Apple Insider:

Before the iPhone 5s and 5c’s release, Apple, Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Sony, and Motorola all had handsets enjoying top-three sales at at least one of America’s big four carriers. Apple’s September announcement pushed all but Samsung out of the picture and relegated the South Korean conglomerate’s Galaxy S4 to the runner-up position across the board.

The data comes from a research note by Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley, who adds that the iPhone enjoyed strong sales in international markets as well, with the device being the top sold smartphone in most countries it launched. The iPad, too, saw strong sales in the markets it was available.

The iPhone 5s has seen two to three times faster adoption than previous iPhones, so it isn’t a surprise that it’s the top selling smartphone. What’s strange is that despite multiple reports claiming iPhone 5c sales aren’t up to Apple’s expectations, the device still figures in the top three smartphones in the US.
