Apple has seeded iOS 7.1 beta 3 to its testing partners, according to BGR’s “trusted source.” The update adds important bug fixes and some new features, but the specifics aren’t available yet.
From BGR:
Apple has begun seeding a new build of iOS 7.1 to testing partners, we have learned from a trusted source. iOS 7.1 beta 3 is said to bring several important bug fixes in addition to some new features, though our source was uncomfortable detailing these for us at this time. The new build has not yet been released to developers, who just gained access to iOS 7.1 beta 2 on on December 13th.
More importantly, according to the report, Apple will release iOS 7.1 publicly only March, which is quite late considering the first iOS 7.1 beta was released on November 18th. BGR speculates that this delay could be due to Apple’s “iOS in the Car” feature, which has made an appearance in the betas, but doesn’t seem to be ready for primetime yet.
Other new features in iOS 7.1 beta 1 and beta 2 include options to Reduce Transparency, Darken Colors, enable button shapes and a lot more. Read this post to see the changes in iOS 7.1 beta 1 and this post to see what’s new in iOS 7.1 beta 2.
Another topic of concern about iOS 7.1 has been if it patches the exploits used in the evasi0n 7 jailbreak for iOS 7. BGR doesn’t say anything about that, but some folks have reported successfully jailbreaking their devices running iOS 7.1 beta 2 with the tool.
