Simple Mode: A nifty Lock screen Launcher for your jailbroken iPhone

simplemode1

Simple Mode  developed by David M. is an interesting new lock screen launcher for your jailbroken iPhone.

When you look at the UI, it reminds you of lock screen launchers such as JellyLock and Atom, however it offers some additional features.

Just like JellyLock and Atom, Simple Mode gives you quick access to 5 apps from the Lock screen. All you need to do is tap on the small arrow button just above the “slide to unlock” slider to access the app icons, and tap on the icon to launch the app.

The animation of the app icons popping out and rotating before settling down in their position when you tap on the arrow button is quite cool. You have a settings option that allows you to control the speed of the animation. You can also change the UI settings such as arc size and the icon size.

Unlike other lock screen launchers, you don’t need to configure the apps you want to access from the lock screen, Simple Mode monitors your app usage and gives you quick access to the top 5 most used apps. You can keep this list dynamic, or exclude apps from the list by disabling them, or you can lock the apps that you always want to access from the Lock screen via the Settings app (Settings > Simple Mode > Your Top 5 and All Applications section).

It also lets you configure which app to open when you unlock the device using the “slide to unlock” slider. You need to turn on the “Auto-Open” toggle and select the app from the list of installed apps. This allows you to automatically open your favorite app when you unlock the device, if no other app is currently open. You can force iOS to open your favorite app when you unlock the device by turning on the “Always Open” toggle.

Simple Mode may not be the prettiest lock screen launchers, but we liked some of the unique features it offers. It is available on Cydia for $1.99. It currently supports iPhone and iPod touch, and requires iOS 6.x.x.
