pod2g Confirms Jailbreak For iOS 6.1 is Ready

When pod2g dared Apple to release iOS 6.1, we assumed that the hackers had the jailbreak ready for it, however weren’t completely confident.

We’ve now got a confirmation that it is indeed is true. In an interview with iDigitalTimes, pod2g has confirmed that an jailbreak for iOS 6.1 is ready and has credited team members planetbeing and pimskeks for it.

pod2g has recently announced that he, MuscleNerd and planetbeing of the iPhone Dev Team and pimskeks of the Chronic Dev  team  are forming a team called evad3rs.

pod2g had this to say:

“For your information and this is important to me that everybody knows about it also, this jailbreak will be @planetbeing and @pimskeks. I arrived at the end, gave ideas that pushed them to their maximum, I kinda unblocked the situation, but it would certainly have happened without me helping.

Now I am helping as much as I can in terms of communication, websites, and also development, but I was not involved the same way as previous, focused on my work and all… Yes, in order @planetbeing, @pimskeks, then me.”

pod2g has also clarified that iOS 6.0 is jailbroken as is iOS 6.1 beta 4. They are waiting for Apple to release iOS 6.1 GM or iOS 6.1 to check if Apple has fixed any of the loop holes used by them before releasing the jailbreak.

“6.0 is jailbroken, 6.1 beta 4 also. Now we are waiting 6.1 to confirm and release.”

But with the release of iOS 6.1 beta 5 over the weekend, it looks like the jailbreak may get delayed further.

MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev team and iH8sn0w, developer of Sn0wbreeze has pointed out that iOS 6.1 beta 5 isn’t like other beta versions as it has no ReleaseType lock keys, so there is no expiration. It is widely speculated that Apple could release iOS 6.1 directly to the public instead of releasing iOS 6.1 golden master.
