Redns0w 0.9.10b5: Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak Updated To Fix iBooks DRM Issue

iPhone Dev team has released an updated version of Redns0w – Redsn0w 0.9.10b5, which includes the fix for the iBooks issue involving DRM.

Please note that Redsn0w and Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether jailbreak supports iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 3G and Absinthe jailbreak and the Redsn0w CLI tool supports iPhone 4S and iPad 2. So this update is not meant for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users.

iPhone Dev team has provided the following information on their blog about the latest version:

redsn0w version b5 incorporates yet another fix for iBooks, this time involving DRM.  @planetbeing wrote a utility called “crazeles” that overcomes jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly.  This fix is similar to the “hunnypot” fix that @comex wrote for the 4.x jailbreak.  As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).

TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the appropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

Chronic Dev team are also expected an update for the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether (v1.0.6). If you’ve already jailbroken your iOS device using Redns0w 0.9.10 then the easiest method is to install the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether from Cydia when it is available. You can also re-run Redsn0w over the existing jailbreak, but remember to de-select.
