Report says Apple is considering 5-inch iPhones, 13-inch iPads

A recent report from Korea’s ETNews is predicting big things for the next generation iPad and iPhone. Really big things in the form of giant phones and over-sized tablets.

Among the trends predicted by ETnews is the introduction of premium models that sport super-size screens. Here is what ETnews predicts for Apple in the coming year:

  • iPhones will adopt screens larger than 5-inches
  • An iPad for e-reading and enterprise markets will debut with a 12.9-inch display
  • Retina iPad mini will arrive next year
  • OLED displays make their way into Apple’s iWatch and other mobile products
  • More power-efficient LED displays will land in the MacBook Air/Pro
  • Apple will revitalize the Korean display industry by further relying on Samsung and LG, in addition to Japan Display

Some of these claims, like a 13-inch iPad, seem a bit off the wall as such a large tablet device would be awkward to use. Others, like the iPad mini with Retina display, agree with recent circulating rumors. I’m not a seer, so I am going to turn to you. What do you think about these predictions? Will Apple really adopt the “bigger is better” philosophy or is this just pure conjecture based on random noise from industry sources?
