Update on Untethered iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 Jailbreak For A5+ devices

sn0wbreeze

There have been rumors and speculations that we may see an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 6.1.4 shortly after iOS 7 is released. If you did not update your device to iOS 7 in the hopes that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 will be released soon then we’ve some good news for you.

iH8sn0w, developer of jailbreaking tool such as Sn0wbreeze, has just confirmed in a blog post that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.4/iOS 6.1.3 is indeed in the works.

iH8sn0w says that they’re currently working on fixing issues such as:

These range from Applications automatically deleting themselves from the uicache to iMessage/Facetime activations not working (even on legit sims).

The jailbreak will work on A5+ iOS 6.1.4/iOS 6.1.3 devices, which means it will work on the following devices:

  • iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS
  • iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad 3, iPad 2
  • iPod touch 5G, iPod touch 4G

It is currently possible to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4g, but it a tethered jailbreak (except for iPhone 3GS with an older bootrom).

If you’re wondering why iH8sn0w and team are planning to release a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.4/6.1.3 rather than using the exploits for iOS 7 jailbreak, then that’s because the exploits don’t work on iOS 7.

Here’s a video that was posted on YouTube last week, which shows an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 in action:

iH8sn0w also points out that there is a lot of work before a jailbreak for iOS 7 is released as quite a few things are broken in iOS 7 such as:

Cydia, MobileSubstrate, and WinterBoard. Not really worth pushing anything at the moment until these issues are sorted out

He hasn’t provided any ETA on when it will be released, but should keep us posted on the progress.
