At WWDC 2013, Apple unveiled the iOS in the Car feature in iOS 7, which will allow you to mirror your iOS device to your car’s built-in display.
iOS in the Car feature takes integration to a whole other level by letting you access your Maps, messages, and other services without having to take your eyes off the wheel.
Apple has just added a new toggle for the iOS in the Car feature called Car Display in iOS 7.1 beta, which suggests that Apple be planning to launch the feature with the release of iOS 7.1 early next year. The toggle has been discovered in the Restrictions page of the Settings apps, which suggests users will be able to enable or disable the feature.
Another hidden setting for iOS in the Car feature suggests that Apple will allow you to mirror your iOS device to your car’s built-in display not only over USB but also over Wi-Fi.
It indicates that the next generation car consoles could come with AirPlay support and allow you to mirror your iOS device wirelessly to it’s built-in display just like Apple TV.
AirPlay support would make it extremely convenient as you don’t have to physically hook up your device. We also hope that Apple provides an option to connect the iOS device automatically to the car’s console without going through the hassle of setting it up every time using the geofencing feature.
The feature is expected to be available in car models made by Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Jaguar and a number of others manufacturers in 2014.
